Katy Vernon Concert

Thursday, January 30, 2020

Twin Cities-based singer songwriter Katy Vernon will be performing in the Great Hall on January 30. Ms Vernon was born in London, England but currently makes her home in White Bear Lake. She has been writing music and performing in clubs, pubs, fairs, festivals, and various venues in Minnesota for over 10 years. She began as a guitarist, performing in many bands, most notably as the lead singer for “The Camdens”, with fellow English transplant, Scott Walker. She wrote songs for the band, one of which was nominated for “Song of the Year” at the Minnesota Music Awards. She switched to ukulele as her instrument of choice, discovering that it provided new inspiration for her songwriting and music career. Katy likes to say that she is a “singer of sad songs on a happy instrument,” but don’t be fooled—Katy sings happy songs as well! Katy has released 3 music CDs: “Before I Forget,” “Present,” and her most recent, “Suit of Hearts.”
