COVID-19 Public Works & Parks Building Closure

In response to the Governor’s "State at Home" order, the Public Works & Parks facility at 1200 Belview Trail is closed to the public.  The building is scheduled to re-open on Monday, May 4, 2020 at 7:30 a.m. If you have an after hours street or utility emergency, please contact Police Dispatch at 507-334-4305.  

COVID-19 and Toilet Paper Shortage

Due to an increased demand and subsequent shortage of toilet paper as a result of COVID-19, we have heard of the increased use and flushing of materials other than toilet paper that indicate they are flushable materials. The Public Works Department provides for the operation and maintenance of the city's infrastructure systems. The Public Works Department consists of multiple divisions which include streets, utilities, water reclamation facility, and airport.

The Public Works Department provides, among other things, safe and serviceable roadways, clean drinking water, and collection and treatment of sanitary sewer. 30 full-time employees and one part-time employee provide the department's service delivery in order to reach the mission of operating, maintaining, and improving the infrastructure systems in the most fiscally responsible fashion, while protecting public safety and maximizing customer satisfaction.
