Community & Economic Development
The Community & Economic Development Department provides programming, review, and administration for all things associated with the development of land and buildings. Included are:
- Community Development
- Economic Development
- Historic Preservation
- Housing
- Planning & Zoning
- Rental Registration/Licensing
In addition to these responsibilities and services, the department conducts studies and research, maintains current demographic data, provides administrative and technical support to city boards and commissions, and takes an active role in community organizations, professional organizations, and state and regional advocacy groups. These activities are all done as part of an ongoing effort to enhance the opportunities available to the community.
The department staff is available to answer questions and assist with your projects.
*As of late 2022 as part of a reorganization effort, Building Codes now falls under the Fire Department.
