Welcome to the online resource for the Faribault Fire and Code Services Department. Within the Fire Department are nine full time and 24 paid on-call firefighters, along with the Fire Chief and an Administrative Assistant. As for the Building Code Division, it’s make-up includes a Building Official, an Administrative Assistant, a Rental Housing/Property Maintenance Inspector, and two Building Inspectors.
The Building Code Division administers the Building and Property Maintenance Code Programs, Electrical Inspection Program, the Manufactured Home Point of Sale Inspection Program and Rental Registration Program. The division is also responsible for the enforcement of the Minnesota State Building Code and the Minnesota Electrical Code in the City of Faribault. Programs are focused on building safety at all stages of construction and use. More information on the Building Code Division can be found here.
Fire Organization
Full-time fire personnel are divided into three shifts with one captain and two full-time firefighters and the paid on-call firefighters are divided into two shifts with 10-15 firefighters assigned to each shift.
The Faribault Fire Department operates out of one fire station. We protect our community of 24,420, an additional 4,500 in the surrounding townships and the numerous visitors to our area with the following equipment:
- 2 engines
- 1 75-foot aerial ladder
- 1 heavy-rescue truck
- 1 rural tender
- 3 pick-up trucks
The department has 3 full-time personnel per shift, with a minimum of 2 firefighters working 24 hour shifts. The officer-in-charge of the "on-duty shift" is the Incident Commander for all emergency calls. That person has the option to respond with the on-duty personnel, request a "shift call", which is all off duty, full-time firefighters and 10 paid on-call firefighters, or an "all call", which pages all Fire Department personnel.
