Water Quality Specialist

Position Functions:  This position performs skilled, technical, and engineering related work in association with the City’s storm water infrastructure system and implementation of the City’s Surface Water Management Plan, Sanitary Sewer Inflow and Infiltration Plan, Natural Resources Study, and other water quality related studies, plans, and regulations.

This person works under the general guidance and direction of the Public Works Superintendent of Utilities.  They will coordinate activities with other Public Works/Engineering Department staff. 

This person will oversee work of Storm Water Technician and seasonal field employees.

Education and Experience:

Two (2) years of related technical or college training in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Natural Resources, or Environmental Sciences with specialized training in storm water management and/or collection systems; Must include coursework or training in the use of AutoCAD software for mapping or information changes and updates.  Or; Two (2) years of related experience, or any combination of education and experience judged to be equivalent by the employer. 

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

Must possess a valid State driver’s license.

Erosion/Sediment Control Specialist - certified by MnDOT.

Position Functions:  This position performs a variety of clerical duties related to confidential police records.  Work includes extensive public contact in person, over the phone and email.  Duties include data entry and retrieval of data from multiple computerized systems as well as a variety of receptionist and support services.

Qualifications

Ability to work as a positive member in a team environment.  
Possession of or the ability to obtain the MN BCA Terminal Operators Certification within one year of hire;
Two years of related clerical experience.  Demonstrated skill in an automated office environment, including applicable computer software; Or any equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible clerical experience.

Position Functions:  The Fire/Property Maintenance Inspector is responsible for the administration and enforcement of adopted state and city codes within the City of Faribault.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two-year degree or coursework/vocational training in building construction and inspection, fire science, land use, geography or two years of related experience in a similarly related field.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and records management software.
  • Ability to read site plans, blue prints and City Code.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possession of a Minnesota driver’s license or ability to obtain one prior to employment.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of relevant fire codes, City ordinances and state laws.
  • State Certification in Fire Inspector I or II.
  • Code enforcement experience in public sector, or municipal planning/ inspections.
  • Experience with the Housing Codes, mechanical and plumbing systems, property maintenance codes, zoning and land use code enforcement principles, practices and methods as applicable to a municipal setting.
  • Experience using computers and records management software.

Thursday, 9 a.m. -1 p.m.
Friday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Starting Pay:  $10.00 - $11.50 per hour
