Police Officer

The City of Faribault has an opening for a Police Officer. The Police Officer position is responsible for the protection of life and property, maintaining and restoring public order, prevention of crimes, apprehension of criminals, and enforcement of laws and ordinances in accordance with rules and regulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or related field.
  • Knowledge of modern police service delivery and investigation methods and procedures.  Knowledge of recent developments, current literature and sources of information regarding modern police methods, techniques and records.

Applicants must be post eligible by the time of an offer. Law enforcement students who will be done with school by the end of 2020 are encouraged to apply. Building Inspector

The City of Faribault has an opening for a Building Inspector.  The Building Inspector performs a variety of routine and complex technical work to ensure compliance with the State Building Code, City’s zoning and sign ordinances, and other related codes and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must meet the requirements set forth in MN Rules Chapter 1301 for a Combination Inspector.
  • Possession of a valid Certified Building Official Certification within a year from the State of Minnesota.
  • Two years of experience as building inspector in a municipal or other local government setting.

Seasonal part-time Community Services Officer II 

The City of Faribault has an opening for a seasonal part-time community services officer. The job duties include monitoring for compliance of park regulations, bike trails, traffic control, as well as public relations; to enforce parking ordinances and laws, investigate animal complaints, impound or quarantine animals, issue violation tags, and enforce city ordinances; respond to public nuisance issues, and non-enforcement type support services for the public while assisting the police department’s patrol division.

HOURS

20-40 hours per week, early evening, night and weekend shifts for the summer. Hours are dependent on applicant’s availability. Maximum of 67 working days.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years or older at time of employment.
  • Possession of a valid Class D Minnesota Driver’s License without record of suspension or revocation in any state (within three years).
  • No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories (within seven years).
  • Must be a Citizen of the United States.
