Parks and Rec. closes public access, launches virtual classes

Due to the current public health situation and the increased community spread of COVID-19, Faribault Parks and Recreation will be closing all of its facilities, and canceling all in-person events, effective at 5 p.m. on Nov. 20. 

Those who are affected by this announcement should have received an email about membership extension/program cancellation. If you haven't, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 507-334-2064. 

But just because our facility is closed to the public, that doesn’t mean you can’t stay engaged and exercise at home.

As of Nov. 24, we’re full-steam ahead with a full array of virtual exercise classes that you can participate in from the comforts of your home. The week of Nov. 23-Nov. 27 will be unique in that it’s a shortened week. We will have regular classes onWednesday, Nov. 25, but that’s it for the week due to the holiday. Starting Nov. 30, the below classes will be held daily via Zoom.

If you wish to participate in one of these classes, and you haven’t done so already, please send an email to Brad Phenow, with what class you’d like to attend. We will then get you on the email list for that Zoom class.

If you’re unfamiliar with Zoom, we will be holding a second Zoom 101 class on Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. We will go over the ins and outs of Zoom, so you can familiarize yourself.

We’re currently offering a $25 monthly virtual membership that allows unlimited access to any of our virtual exercise classes, and starts on Nov. 30. You may use your current passes, but know that financially, it would be a better deal to get the virtual class if you plan to attend regularly.

• 5:15 p.m. - Cardio workout with Vicki


• 5:15 p.m. - Strength Training with Ashley


• 5:15 p.m. - Cardio Boxing with Vicki


• 4:30 p.m. PiYO with Vicki 

• 5:30 p.m. - HIIT with Ashley


• 4:30 p.m. - Strength Training with Ashley

*We realize you may need some equipment to do your workouts, but please know we will be planning workouts with limited equipment in mind. If you want to rent a step, bands or hand weights (up to 10 pounds), you can RENT each unit for $10 and then simply return the items when we get the green light to be back in facility!
