  1. Fall Lecture Series #1: Author Daniel E. Van Tassel, PhD presents Journey By the Book: A Guide to Tales of Travel

    Author Daniel E. Van Tassel, PhD, will present a talk about his newest book, Journey by the Book: A Guide to Tales of Travel, (a book about books with travel as their theme and inspiration). Books will be available for sale and signing after the program. (Cash or Check). Dr. Van Tassel graduated from St. Olaf College and earned his M.A. and PhD degrees in literature from the University of Iowa. He has taught at Pacific Lutheran University, California State University San Marcos and Muskingum College. He has written several scholarly publications, and book reviews, and his previous book, Back to Barron, "a chronicle of growing up in a small-town-and-rural mid-century America." Van Tassel is now retired and living in Northfield, but teaches courses in the Cannon Valley Elder Collegium program, along with pursuing his interests of travel literature, architecture, ecology, mountain biking, swimming, local theatre, home restoration, and decorating.

    Children's Early Literacy Play Area - Buckham Memorial Library

    Join Ms. Deni in the children's literacy play area of the library for STORYTIME on Thursdays at 10am! Alternatively, you can also join Storytime Share & Tell on Zoom on Wednesdays at 10am! Email me for the link: dbuendorf@selco.info You can also watch our 5 Minute Bedtime Stories on the library's Facebook and YouTube pages on Tuesdays at 7pm. Storytime is intended for children ages 0-6 with an actively participating adult caregiver. We'll share stories and songs and fun! Storytime encourages language development, teaches early literacy skills, and fosters a love of books and a lifetime of learning. No registration is required. Older siblings and friends are always welcome. This schedule continues through November 17 and then Storytime will be on a short break until January. Stay tuned for the winter schedule!
